How Do I Register for 10DLC?

10DLC registration is two steps, brand then campaign, and your platform does most of the paperwork. You verify who you are (the brand), then describe what you'll send (the campaign use case). A vetting score comes back and determines how fast and how much you can send. The one thing you control is starting with enough lead time.

Brand, then campaign

The brand is your organization's identity, legal name, EIN, contact. The campaign is the specific use case, your political messaging, with sample messages and opt-in details. Both go through The Campaign Registry, typically submitted by your provider on your behalf.

Why to start early

Vetting and approval aren't instant, and a committee that waits until October to register can be stuck throttled during the exact weeks it needs volume. Register as soon as you have your entity set up, not when you're ready to blast.

Frequently asked questions

How does a campaign register for 10DLC?

Through The Campaign Registry, usually via your texting platform: first the brand (your org's verified identity), then the campaign (your messaging use case with sample messages and opt-in info). Vetting sets your throughput.

How long does 10DLC registration take?

It varies, from quick to a week or more depending on vetting. Start well before you need to send volume, because throttling during GOTV is the cost of registering late.
